Ten years ago, Cleveland freelance violinist Ariel Clayton Karas founded OPUS 216 to take classical music out of traditional venues and into clubs, galleries, storefronts, festivals, museums, sports venues — and into interaction with other musical genres. During the pandemic, they performed front-yard concerts. They could turn up almost anywhere.

She’s recruited some of the area’s top musicians to join her at OPUS 216’s gigs, where the music might draw from various jazz styles, Celtic & Appalachian fiddle music, hip hop, pop and more. The personnel fluctuates so you never know quite what to expect from this surprising ensemble other than topnotch musicianship no matter what pieces they perform on a particular night.

The ensemble will be celebrating its tenth anniversary at one of those alternative venues — the Music Box Supper Club. Doors open at 6pm if you’d like to dine before the show. Make a reservation here.
