The Chicago-based Alliance for the Great Lakes has a very active Cleveland contingent. During warm weather, you’ll find them at Edgewater Park and other local beaches almost every Saturday doing beach clean-ups as part of the Adopt-a-Beach program. And while group events were sparse last year, many intrepid individuals continued the work,
“Our volunteers do amazing things for the Great Lakes,” says the organization. “Whether they’re an Adopt-a-Beach volunteer that helps remove thousands of pounds of trash from Great Lakes shorelines, an Ambassador who connects with community members across the region, or a member of our Young Professional Council that raises funds for Great Lake work, they all make a difference.”
Go here to join the meeting. If you’re fired up after that, the Great Lakes beach cleanups start Saturday April 24. To join a cleanup or start your own if there isn’t one at a beach near you, go to greatlakesadopt.org.
