Dancing Wheels, the innovative Cleveland-based ensemble that features choreography blending wheelchair dancers and “stand-up” dancers, rolls into its 43rd year with a gala benefit at Playhouse Square’s Allen Theatre, revolving around the world premiere performance of Allies in Action!, with new works by choreographers Alexis Diggs, Tiffany Milles and Mark Tomasic. It honors the spirit of the LGBTQ+ community and celebrates inclusiveness and allyship on a broad scale.
The event starts with a VIP pre-show party at 6:30pm in the Allen’s lobby, with appetizers, drinks, a silent auction and a performance by the North Coast Men’s Chorus small vocal group, The Coastliners. The performance in the theater itself starts at 8pm. It’s followed at 9:30 by a reception in the lobby for all attending, to meet the artists, enjoy champage and dessert and dancing to music by DJ Jeremy James.
