Modern String Band Mile Twelve Is Back at Riverdog Barn

Thu 9/15 @ 7:30

While modern string band Mile Twelve is rooted in traditional bluegrass music, they don’t come from typical bluegrass roots. They came out of Boston, Massachusetts, hardly a city people associate with Appalachian folk music, although the members come from New England, Texas and Australia. Most of them attended Boston’s noted Berklee School of Music, combining expert chops with a love of vernacular music.

Relatively new to the traditional folk scene (they won the International Bluegrass Music Awards Best New Artist award in 2020), they play extensively around New England (their name comes from a highway market south of Boston) but they’ve also done quite a bit of touring across North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand and Japan.

Of course, that itinerary includes Lorain County’ Riverdog Barn, a hotbed for this type of music. They’ll be back there this week. Tickets are $22; gates open at 6 for the 7:30pm concert. Pack a picnic and cooler and enjoy the beautiful outdoor setting.
