Apollo’s Fire Program Engages Hispanic Music and Culture

Wed 3/20-Fri 3/22 @ 7:30PM

Sat 3/23 @ 8PM

For its next series of concert, Cleveland baroque orchestra Apollo’s fire turns its musical spotlight on Spain and Latin American countries ¡Hispania! A Voyage from Spain to the Americas

The program, created by AF founder/artistic director Jeannette Sorrell, brings together 17 musicians to share baroque music by Spanish composers Diego Ortiz, Gaspar Sanz and Santiago de Murcia, adding influences from new world countries such as Mexico, Peruvian and Argentina in music that combines classical and folk influences. Texas flamenco guitarist Jeremias Garcia and Puerto Rican soprano Sophia Burgos, along with soprano Andrea Walker, are featured performers. Garcia will give a pre-concert talk one hour prior to each performance.

The concert will be performed at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Akron on Wednesday March 20; at St. Rocco Catholic Church in Cleveland on Thursday March 21; and at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights on Friday March 22 and Saturday March 23.  Get tickets and more information here.
