We have to hand it to Cleveland drag performer Veranda L’Ni aka ‘Cleveland’s tallest drag queen”: she is tireless in the promotion of her art form, even in the face of colossal ignorance from state legislators and pitiful protests from fearful right-winger clods.
Hosting drag cabarets, drag queen story hours, drag bingo and an annual drag showcase at venues across the area, she’s entertained countless open-minded audiences and provided a stage for a multitude of talented drag artists. And it is an art form: the costumes, makeup, wigs, music, skits with dialogue — all come together to create a calculated theatrical impression that can be spectacular, flashy, hilarious, bawdy or heartwarming.
Once again, Veranda will be hosting her monthly Drag Bingo at the Music Box Supper Club. Join her as she engages the audience in the fun. Doors open at 6pm so come for dinner too — but be sure to make a reservation.
And, in the drag tradition of giving back to the LGBTQ+ community, proceeds will benefit Windsong, Cleveland’s feminist chorus which performs music about social justice and activism.
