Jazz Trumpeter/Educator Dominick Farinacci Leads Ensemble of Talented Young Players

Sun 1/21 @ 7PM

Jazz trumpet player Dominick Farinacci’s career has taken him around the world since he left Cleveland to go to school at New York’s Juilliard School. But he’s never forgotten his roots as a member of the Tri-C High School Jazz All-Stars and he’s a constant presence in town, mentoring young musicians in workshops, camps and classes such as the Tri-C JazzFest Academy program which he directs.

One of the programs he’s created to give the most talented young players some performing experience is called Spirit of the Groove.

These are musicians who are current and recent Tri-C JazzFest Academy students with potential to go on to bigger things in the music world, just as he did. He’ll be leading a group of them this Sunday at Market Garden Brewery in Ohio City. They include vocalist/composer Ava Preston, who at 19, has been performing publicly for nearly a decade and piling up awards and accolades throughout her teen years. The ensemble also features pianist Liam Speakers, guitarist Tim Picard, bassists Oscar LaCombe and Eli Leder, drummers Gabe Jones and Nehemiah Baker, and percussionist Ben Bosler.
