The organizers of the monthly Brews+ Prose author programs at Market Garden Brewery are promising you help you beat the February doldrums with “a roaring fire, food, drinks, and some of the best writers reading anywhere.”
They like to feature a pair of writer-readers of contrasting styles and experience, and this month is no different.
Forty-six-year old John Freeman is a poet, literary critic, nonfiction writer and anthology editor, who also publishes an annual of new writing. His latest book Dictionary of the Undoing is a plea for continued citizen engagement in the era of Trump, looking at how language can be used to fight back.
Sarah Elaine Smith, who is from the Pittsburgh area, won the 2011 Cleveland State University first book prize, for her debut a poetry collection called I Live in a Hut. She released her second book, a novel called Marilou Is Everywhere, last year, garnering widespread praise for its combination of realism and imagination, in its story of a 15-year-old seeking creative ways to escape her small rural town.
Admission is free. Purchase of a book includes one free beer!
