AAWR Hosts Program on Accessibility in the Visual Arts

Wed 10/12 @ 7-8PM

Artists Archives of the Western Reserve’s current show, W/O Limits: Art, Chronic Illness, & Disability, features artists who all deal with a chronic illness or disability of some type, as do about a quarter of Americans. And while the focus may be on inclusion and raising awareness of what these artists are dealing with, in fact most of them have already made a name for themselves on the quality and value of their work.

The show, curated by Artists Archives’ Megan Alves, who also deals with disability, features nine northeast Ohio artists who work in painting, photography, video performance, sculpture (including touchable sculptures) and interactive digital installations: Sarah Brown, Kristi Copez, Chappelle Letman Jr., artist collective MANDEM, Meg Matko, Arabella Proffer, Nate Puppets, Andrew Reach, and Kate Snow. The show is on view through November 12.

AAWR will host a virtual panel discussion on the show, moderated by Alves. Copez, MANDEM and Reach will talk about their work and issues around accessibility and inclusion in the region’s art scene. It will be followed with an audience Q&A.  To register for the free program, go here.
