Lakeland Women’s Art Show Holds Closing Reception

Every year, Mary Urbas, gallery coordinator at Lakeland Community College, curates a show called From Woman…, which is just what it sounds like. It features work in a wide range of mediums and styles “created by women, of women and about women,” by artists predominantly but not entirely from around the region.

From Woman XVII…, which goes on view Monday February 12, features work by 33 artists. As always there are familiar names — Jaymi Zents seems to be in every one; Judy Takacs, Tricia Kaman and Patty Flauto are mainstays of area juried shows; Laurel Herbold and Keri Goetz open their studios at 78th Street Studios every Third Friday. Other names are less familiar giving gallery visitors the opportunity to make serendipitous discoveries.

And you have one last chance to do so before the show comes down following its final day, Sunday March 24. As is customary, the gallery hosts its reception at the end of the run, so that’s the day to come down and mingle with the artists and area art lovers from 1-3pm. It’s free and open to all.
