Cleveland’s Muamin Collective has been making their smart, skillful progressive hip-hop music for about a decade and a half now. Rappers ZION/Swagger Vince/j-Quills and aLive/Steezer Wonder often perform their pensive, jazz-inflected with a full live band adding depth and nuance to a genre that too often has devolved into idle boasts over flat, repetitive beats.
The group has produced and released a lot of music in their years together, and they’re adding to their catalog this week when they release their full-length album The Hues Brothers. They’ll mark the occasion with a show at Now That’s Class, which also features Lamont “Bim” Thomas’ truth-dropping post-punk project Obnox, Kent Archie and DJ Nuera. Admission is $5.
