Sibling Duo Sara and Sean Watkins Perform Outdoors in Peninsula

Sat 9/18 @ 6:30PM

Peninsula’s GA.R. Hall’s “Voices in the Valley” series is back — sort of. After a summer of shows outdoors at Peninsula’s Bronson Green, it was ready to move back indoors to G.A.R. Hall, but COVID had other plans. So their upcoming show by the sibling duo of guitarist Sean and fiddler Sara Watkins, promoting their new album brother sister, will also be outdoors on Bronson Green.

“As you know this darn virus is not letting up,” they say. “We feel outside is the best way to keep everyone safe and still enjoy the talents of Sarah and Sean Watkins. So this is what we are going to do, we had planned an early and a late show.  We have decided to combine the shows into one show at 6:30, gates opening at 6pm.”

The Watkins siblings, from San Diego, California, grew up playing together, then formed the acoustic progressive bluegrass/folk band Nickel Creek with their friend, mandolin player, Chris Thile, in 1989.  Their self-titled 2000 album went platinum and they won a Grammy for 2003’s This Side, before going on hiatus in 2007, which ended in 2014. Both have worked with many others musicians and projects over the years while continuing to collaborate. They also have an occasional project called The Watkins Family Hour which often features guest musicians who happen to show up.

General admission tickets are $35 in advance, $40 day of show. Proof of COVID vaccination or a negative test within 72 hours is required. They’ll have some refreshments available for purchase but you can bring your own as well, along with your lawn chair or blanket.
