Cleveland Book Week — leading up to the Aannual Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards — is underway, with numerous public events.
One of those is a program with poet and Columnia University professor Shane McCrae, who recently published his fifth book, In the Language of my Captor for which he won the 2018 AWBA for Poetry. In it he explores the intersection of racism and love and how “the illusory freedom of both black and white Americans.”
He headlines an evening of poetry, music and art at Karamu House, co-presented with Twelve Literary Arts. It’s free, but registration is required. Go here.
