Keep an Eye on Arts Funding at Cuyahoga Arts & Culture’s Board Meeting, Open to the Public.

Ingenuity Cleveland

Thu 2/15 @ 4PM

There’s been a lot of news about arts funding and support for arts projects in Cleveland and in Cuyahoga County. That’s led to a lot of excitement but also to a lot of questions, as artists in particular look for clarity about what’s expected of them and how they will benefit.

One of the big questions hanging out there right now is who will county executive Chris Ronayne appointed to the board of Cuyahoga Arts & Culture, with two of the five board members’ terms expiring in March. According to the authorization legislation, two of those members are supposed to be practicing artists or people who participate in the arts in a hands-on way as their main thing. Currently, none fit that bill.

It’s important to keep this issue in the spotlight, which is why it would be a good idea for arts practitioners who can do also to attend the next meeting of the CAC board of trustees on Thursday February 15 @ 4pm where the board will preview plants for 2025 project support grantmaking. Please note that instead of its usual location at Cleveland Public Library’s downtown branch where afternoon parking was challenging and/or costly, it’s taking place at the Children’s Museum of Cleveland which has free parking and an overflow lot across the street at the Masonic Auditorium.

All CAC board meetings are open to the public, and there is a time for public comments as well. Let your voice be heard, but even your presence can make a difference.
