Guitarists Frank Vignola and Vinny Raniola may be a generation apart, but they’ve formed a productive musical partnership.

New Yorker Vignola, who turns 51 in December, is a widely respected jazz player but his talents and musical interests are much more far-ranging. He’s performed with pop stars like Madonna, Ringo Star and Steely Dan’s Donald Fagen, as well as jazz artists like Wynton Marsalis and Les Paul and orchestras such as the New York Pops and the Boston Pops. He was also one of the first musicians to delve into the gypsy jazz revival with a Hot Club of France tribute in the late ’80s.

He’s also recorded more than a dozen albums in the last two decades. The last two, 2011’s An Evening with… Frank Vignola and Vinny Raniolo and Swing Zing!, released this year featured 30-year-old Raniola, who has been his musical partner-in-crime for the last four years. The duo has toured extensively, playing hundred of dates together.

They’ll be returning to northeast Ohio to play at Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s Happy Days Lodge as part of their Heritage concert series. Tickets are $20, $15 for conservancy members, $5 under 12.
