Once again, Oddmall, which specializes on vendor fairs and craft markets with a weird spin, and food business Stray Dog Akron, are hosting the Akron Pickle Fest. But don’t expect your typical pizza/burger/taco food fest with a bunch of food offerings and maybe some music. This one is a crazy, offbeat event, described by the promoters as “a preposterous preponderance of pickled provisions, provocative pleasantries, prominent peddlers, and prodigiously preposterous pastimes.”
It features nearly 100 vendors and three dozen food trucks offering permutations of pickles that probably never occurred to you. And there will be special events and contests such as bobbing for pickles, fishing for pickles, a pickle eating contest, a greased pickle toss and much more., all part of what they call the “Picklelympics.” How are youe pickle skills, Simone Biles? Also a car show. We don’t know if there’s going to be a pickle-shaped car but don’t bet against it.
The event takes place at Cascade Plaza in downtown Akron, and admission is totally free so you can stock up on all the pickles you need until next year’s Pickle Fest.
