Supposedly Saturday June 29 is World Percussion Day, although I can find no confirmation of this. But that’s what the folks behind the Cleveland Cultural Gardens’ World on Stage series are claiming, and celebrating rhythm is never a bad thing.

So this edition of the World on Stage series, which takes place at the Gardens’ Centennial Peace place, will present beats from diverse cultures. Performers will include Samba da Cidade drummers and dancers, a Native American ensemble, Korean-American ensemble the Ohio Samul Nori and St. Edward High School’s Trash Talkers, a Stomp-inspired group of students who play homemade instruments made from garbage cans.

The program is free and open to all. The CLE Chicken food truck will be on hand if the rhythms make you ravenous.
