Sun 3/24 @ noon (doors 11AM)
There’s no better example of being new to the local music scene and being among its most seasoned veterans than Cleveland reggae band Shake (pronounced “shaky”) Ground. Only about two years old, the band is comprised entirely of familiar faces, some of whom have been part of the local reggae scene for 40-plus years. All played with the wildly popular First Light, one of the best-drawing local bands of any genre from 1984-1998: keyboard player Eddie Mars, bass player Michael “Chopper” Wasson, guitarist Gino Long, sax player Rob Williams and drummer Rod Reisman.
The band is also basically an extension of the long-running Outlaws I & I, self dubbed “groovemaster punk rasta hipsters from outer space.” When leader Butchie B decided to retire from regular playing (he’s still spotted on stage occasionally), the other members carried on.
They’ll be at the Music Box Supper Club to help patrons digest their eggs, sausage and French toast at the club’s weekly Sunday brunch, with music that goes down smoothly.
