Coit Road Farmers Market Holds Waffles & BBQ Fundraiser

Sat 8/22 @ 10AM-1PM

The nonprofit Coit Road Farmers Market is the oldest farmers market in Cleveland, with roots back in the 1920s. It’s also the only year-round farmers market in the area with its own dedicated building. And located in one of northeast Ohio’s poorer communities, East Cleveland, it has a mission to help improve people’s health, with hands-on cooking (and tasting!) demonstrations, it’s Care-A-Van program offering health screenings and information, a kitchen that can be used by small food producers, and even a community garden across the street.

But it needs to raise money for its programs, so it hosts an annual waffles and BBQ fundraiser. Stop in for some pulled chicken or pork from the smoker, on a freshly made waffle out of a cast-iron wafflemaker, topped with BBQ sauce, with a side of coleslaw.

“We hope to make up for four lost fundraisers with one huge celebration,” they say.

They’ve also got a fundraiser going on to upgrade their fence line and repair and replace battered and missing gates. You can make a donation here or drop something off when you got get your waffles.

The market is open every Saturday from 8am-1pm. Waffles are served from 10am-1pm.
