Is your kid driving you crazy complaining about being bored? Here’s something fun and challenging they can do — and you can join in alongside them.
Brandon Chrostowski, founder of EDWINS, the Shaker Square restaurant that trains people returning from prison in culinary and hospitality arts, is conducting a weeklong series of “Kids Cook at Home” virtual classes.
At 11:30 each morning (except Christmas) he’ll share 45-60 minutes of east-to-follow instruction on preparing a different item — with foods chosen to appeal to a kids’ palette. The week kicks off with snack on Monday: peanut butterballs, ham and cheese rollups and trail mix. Tuesday features spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread. On Wednesday it’s grilled cheese and tomato salad and on Thursday, Christmas even, Christmas cookies and hot chocolate. Come back on Friday for farmer’s market pizza with cannoli and finish up on Sunday with a pancake and frittata breakfast. Some adult supervision is required.
You can just take the class for $10 (If you miss the time, the recording is available afterward) or for $25, get a kit that feeds four, which includes the class link. Pick up is available starting at 10am the day of the class at EDWINS Restaurant on Shaker Square or EDWINS Butcher Shop on nearby Buckeye Road. Sign up for one or more days as the menu appeals to your kids.
