New Heights Arts Show Features Work by Visual Artists/Musicians

Fri 1/13 @ 5PM

Sun 1/15 @ 2:30-5PM

Heights Arts in Cleveland Heights kicks off the year with a pair of shows opening this weekend. Dual Duel, curated by its Exhibitions Community Team, is a group show featuring artists who are also musicians.

Team member Dave King, who coordinated the show, says, “There are dualities shared amongst these visual artists/musicians. They are makers whose message vacillates between visual and auditory media. The two disciplines are intertwined in countless ways: overlapping terminology, the desire to express and share, studio discipline, a process of concept, creation, editing, and display. Honing both crafts is a solitary act, but the reveal is public… Although the message may ultimately choose the medium, the visual artist/musician is split between two worlds.”

Artists in the show include David Louis Cintron, Hadley Conner, Jill Eisert, Gene Epstein, John Howitt, Kasumi, Scott Pickering, Priscilla Roggenkamp, Sam Silverman, William Reed Simon, Doug Unger and John Williams.

Show artist Sam Silverman will be playing live music at the opening reception.

In addition, the gallery will be showing a body of portraiture by young painter Nick Lee, whose goal is to make portrait painting more inclusive and representative of minorities especially queer people of color. The shows will be on view through March 12.

In addition, Heights Arts is presenting a second opening event on Sunday January 15 @ 2:30-5pm in conjunction with CLE Urban Winery across the street. Visitors can see the work, hen go over to CLE Urban Winery for a glass of wine and a musical performance by Rock Salt and Nails and The Hot Club of Cleveland.
