Come Learn About Ohio Gun Laws at CWRU Discussion

Wed 9/12 @ 7PM

The Valentine’s Day shooing at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida represented a sea change for the gun safety movement. That’s largely because the classmates of the 17 students killed were affluent, articulate and angry — with the means and ability to frighten the NRA out of its skull and the determination and persistence to keep bringing the heat to this organization which is out of step with most Americans.

While public pressure encouraged Ohio Governor John Kasich to propose some sensible gun regulations, the Ohio legislature went in the opposite direction. It’s considering a “Stand your Ground” law and looking at eliminating training and licensing requirements for concealed carry.

To address and educate on the issues and what’s happening in Ohio, CWRU Siegal Lifelong Learning is presenting “Ohio Gun Laws: What Are Our Options?”

Journalist Peter Krouse from Cleveland.com will lead a discussion with experts about the past, present and potential future of attempts to reduce gun violence locally. It takes place at the Tinkham Veale University Center on the Case Western Reserve campus. It’s free and open to all.
