Thu 5/3 @ 7:30PM
On Mon 4/16 Cleveland lost one of its beloved characters, Maurice Reedus Jr aka the Sax Man who passed away at age 65.
You may have known of him but not known it. Although he played briefly with obscure R&B band Sly, Slick and Wicked in the 70s, the sax player chose not to follow the usual route of playing with a series of bands and doing the club circuit. Instead, he stationed himself in front of Playhouse Square theaters or at the gates of Progressive Field, playing familiar tunes for passersby who might put some money in his case.
In 2014, a documentary about Reedus called The Sax Man made its debut at the Cleveland International Film Festival, telling the story of this man who did it his way. To honor him and raise money for his family for funeral expenses, there will be a special screening of the film at Tower City Cinemas.
Tickets are $10.
