“The Nature of Healing” Art Show Offers Solace at the Cleveland Botanical Garden

Work by Lacey Talley

Through Sun 5/18

The Cleveland Botanical Garden’s current exhibit, The Nature of Healing, taps into the relationship between nature and mental and emotional health. Curated by Deep Roots Experience, the arts organization located in the Fairfax neighborhood, it features the work of nearly two dozen Northeast Ohio artists. The work, which runs the gamut of mediums, focuses on a variety of botanicals and related images of nature (butterflies are omnipresent) and their relationship to health and their value in addressing issues such as grief and depressing.

“Steeped in symbolism, the works unravel the interplay between trauma, mourning, and the restorative power of nature,” they tell us. “Ultimately, the exhibit invites viewers to reflect on nature’s role in navigating sorrow and emotional resilience.”

An impressive list of top-flight area artists contributed work, including multi-media artist Giorgio Sabino III, painter/installation artist Davon Brantley, photographer Emanuel Wallace, muralist Dayzwun, Asia Armour (whose soaring butterfly-laden installation in the rain forest biome is must-see) and Lacey Talley, whose tiny sculptural figures of symbolic women on pedestals was also a standout (and featured more butterflies!)

The show will be in view through Sunday May 18. Learn more here.
