Ohio’s legislature — one of the highest paid in the country for what is basically a parttime job — has decided that the most critical issue facing Ohio isn’t jobs or affordable housing, access to health care or better schools for all kids, feeding everyone or repairing our crumbling infrastructure or keeping our soil, air and water clean.
No, the real issue is a trans kid using the “wrong” bathroom. Ohio just ejected a U.S. Senator whose entire career was devoted to fighting for working people in favor of one who promised — loudly and often — to keep trans women out of public women’s restrooms, lest they attack your daughter, something he could provide no evidence of ever happening even once. Meanwhile, the legislature is dictating what schools can say and teach, and who they are required to erase — pretty much everyone except straight, white “Christian” males.
