Iranian-American Poet & Columbus Essayist Chat at Writers Center Stage Event

Thu 4/10 @ 7:30-9:30PM

Iranian-American author Kaveh Akbar is known primarily for his poetry. He’s published two collections, 2017’s Calling a Wolf a Wolf, and 2021’s Pilgrim Bell. He’s won several Pushcart Prizes, honoring pieces published in by small presses and literary magazines. In 2016, he published an autobiographical chapbook called Portrait of an Alcoholic, and in 2024, his debut novel Martyr!, which also dealt with addiction.

He’s the next guest of Cuyahoga County Public Library’s Writers Center Stage series, taking place at the Maltz Performing Arts Center at Case Western Reserve University. He was originally slated to be in conversation with California novelist Tommy Orange, who was unable to take part. Instead, he’ll talk with Columbus, Ohio-based poet/essayist/cultural critic Hanif Abdurraqib. There will be a signing of books by both authors in the lobby afterwards; books will be available for purchase.
