Heights Arts’ Close Encounters concerts are opportunities for classical music fans to enjoy chamber ensembles featuring some of the area’s top musicians in an intimate setting.
Its upcoming concert will take place at a home in Shaker Heights, and three of the four musicians features play in The Cleveland Orchestra: cellist Dane Johansen, who also curates the series, violinist Jason Yu and violist Williams Bender. The fourth, young pianist Daniel Overly, has a connection too: he’s the pianist for the Cleveland Orchestra Chrous, the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus and the Blossom Festival Chorus.
This quartet of outstanding musicians will perform 20th-century British composer Frank Bridge’s 1910 Phantasy for Piano Quartet in F-sharp minor, Ernst von Dohnányi’s 1902 Serenade in C Major for String Trio, and Johannes Brahms’ 1856-61 Piano Quartet No. 3 in G minor.
