Akron Rocker Brian Lisik Releases New Live Album for Record Store Day

Sat 4/12 @ 12:30PM

Akron musician Brian Lisik has been part of northeast Ohio’s music scene since the late 1990s, when he was with indie rockers Giants of Science. Since then he’s released a string of solo albums, including Baggage (2004), Happiness Is Boring (2006), The Mess That Money Could Buy (2012), and Curtis Interruptus (2015) and We’re Sorry (2017), both as Brian Lisik & the Unfortunates, 2021’s Gudbye Stoopid Whirled, a 2022 live album Hotsy Totsy! American Songwriter and in 2023, the no-holds-barred rock & roll Nu Wreckard.

His upcoming release, Goodnight, Detroit, was recorded live last summer at a show at Trixie’s Bar in Hamtramck, Michigan. The 45-minute record captures Lisik and his bare-bones band — Gerard Dominick (formerly of northeast Ohio’s legendary In Fear of Roses) on bass and Craig Lisik on drums — pulling out all the stops as they perform a dozen of their hardest-rocking tunes from Lisik’s previous albums. And it’s a special limited-edition release for 2025 Record Store Day.

Appropriately, Lisik and band will celebrate the release with an in-store concert at an independent record store — Akron’s Hollowbone Records. It’s free and open to all.
