Summer’s coming, it really is. And while snow is in the forecast for the end of the week (even though it’s going to be in the 50s when you get this on Wednesday), we’re only four days away from those wonderful long evenings daylight savings time brings.
And to get you in the mood, Riverdog Retreat in Lorain County is offering some titillating hints of the shows they’ll be offering this summer in their open-sided, outdoor tented Riverdog Barn concert venue. The list of performers you can expect to see there includes some familiar names and some new ones, mostly in the bluegrass/folk/alt country/Americana genres the venue leans towards.
They include the Allard Brothers, Missy Raines & Allegheny, House of Hamill, the Honey Dewdrops, the Sullivan Sisters Band, Amy LaVere bringing a full band, Johnny & the Yooahoos, Djangophonique, and Showman & Coole. You can also probably expect to see some of the popular local acts that fill in between the touring nations.
But you don’t have to wait until May to visit the rural concert outpost. In the meantime, they’ve got a couple of shows in their indoor gallery. On Saturday March 22, Joe Newberry & April Verch will bring ballads and dance tunes from Canada and the Ozarks. On Saturday March 29, the Burney Sisters, Americana-style singer/songwriters from Alabama, perform. On Saturday April 26, check out Boston singer/songwriter Hayley Reardon. And on Sunday April 27, Warren & Flick play an eclectic mix of classical, bluegrass, jazz and original improvised music.
They warn that because of the limited capacity of the gallery, the shows usually sell out, so if you want to check out these performers, grab your tickets now.
And stay tuned for the summer schedule!
