It was really just a few weeks ago when Chef/owner Brandon Chrostowski announced that he was moving his fine-dining restaurant EDWINS, which trains people returning from prison in culinary and hospitality arts, from Shaker Square to the space in Cleveland Heights formerly occupied by the beloved Nighttown which closed during the pandemic and was briefly revived by a local restaurant group.
He worked quickly. The day before his official February 28 opening, he invited a diverse group of media in to see how quickly he had transformed the space while maintaining some traces of the old Nighttown. The much larger space allowed him to expand the number of types of dining EDWINS can offer. There’s still a high-priced fine-dining room with white table cloths, but there are also more casual and lower-priced spaces, brunch, a kids’ menu, a cigar room, and, best of all, a full schedule of jazz on weekends, something former Nighttown patrons missed in its last incarnation. He led a tour that took visitors through the kitchen and downstairs to a spacious classroom in thew basement.
Official opening day was February 28.
