North Union Farmers Markets at Shaker Square and Crocker Park Head Outdoors for the Season

Sat 4/5 @ 8AM-1PM

The North Union Farmer’s Markets, which helped kick off the movement for local, healthy food and farmer’s markets in northeast Ohio when they launched in 1995, hosts two year-round markets and half a dozen seasonal satellite markets. All vendors produce/grow their products in northeast Ohio and all are inspected by market staff before they’re allowed to become vendors.

Both of the main markets — at Crocker Park and Shaker Square — go indoors after their final December markets, where they run weekly inside. But the first weekend in April, they head outdoors again, just as the first greens and flowers are starting to pop. The opening day features live music, cooking demos and, for the first time since before the pandemic, the return of sheep shearing! Sheep shearer Geoff Baldwin will divest sheep of their winter coats while telling stories about how and why it’s done. He’ll be at the Shaker Square Market on April 5, which will be opening from 8am-noon, and at the Crocker Park Market on Saturday April 12, which opens April 5 from 9am-1pm.
