And now for something completely different from Cleveland baroque chamber ensemble Les Delices: they’re taking to the high seas this week led by Nova Scotia singer/bouzouki player Seán Dagher, with “Sea Songs and Shanty Sings.”

They’re kicking off a weekend of piratical fun, with sea shanties and other melodies performed by Dagher, along with Les Delices’ Debra Nagy (oboe and director), cellist Rebecca Landell (cello) and percussionist Anthony Taddeo. It starts on Thursday w3ith a pirate party at Market Garden Brewery in Ohio City. Come dressed in costume — part of the fun is a pirate costume contest. They’ll have a special menu of pirate-themed drinks and food to enjoy a long with the live music, which starts at 7pm. Get tickets here.

Then on Friday March 7 through Sunday March 9, the musicians will be taking their performance of sea shanties, pirate ballads and dance tunes to three other locations: the Rocky River Public Library on Friday evening, House330 Cabaret in Akron on Saturday. And finally on Sunday afternoon the ship will sail into the Brownhoist Ballroom near AsiaTown in Cleveland. All of those performances are free, and Friday’s and Sunday’s will include free refreshments.
