Sat 3/22 @ 8PM
Any Clevelander who’s a fan of jazz, especially Latin jazz, knows Jackie Warren, whose intricately energetic piano playing drives the music of Sammy DeLeon’s various ensembles and has been heard with other similar ensembles as well. She also performs solo (she’s back on the regular schedule at EDWINS, formerly Nighttown) and with various other area musicians and teaches at the Tri-C Jazz Studies program.
Her birthday bash at the BOP STOP gas become an annual tradition, and it’s back this year because for musicians like Jackie, nothing is a gift like having the opportunity to play. The evening promises to be lively, with her compadre, timbales player Sammy DeLeon, joining her, along with sax player Chris Burge and bass player Kip Reed.
