It’s A Kling Thing!

Fri 3/28 @ 8PM

It’s A Kling Thing! is one of the longest-running DIY houses in the Midwest, located right here in Akron.

Described as being “for people of all ages and backgrounds,” it’s a great place to meet up with friends, hang out and listen to live music. If the weather is nice enough, you might see an outdoor performance. All upcoming shows are posted to their Instagram, they welcome bands touring from all over the U.S. to play alongside local bands, and showcase the best of Akron’s underground music scene. Make sure you donate because 100% of donations collected at the door go to the touring bands.

CoolCleveland’s Howie Henderson was able to get a statement from Kling Thing resident Wes Martin. When asked to describe It’s A Kling Thing!, Martin said, “I would describe it as a DIY house for people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy live music at. First and foremost, it’s about the music, and with that comes a very intimate community. Aside from creating good times and fond memories, our goal is always to be a place where people feel at home.”

Kling Thing holds a special place in my heart as a home away from home. My favorite part is hanging out on the porch in between sets with all the other smokers. It’s always so nice seeing the other regulars.

Fans of folk music rejoice! Friday, March 28th It’s A Kling Thing! will be hosting deer scout. Be sure to bring $10 for the door fee! In addition to deer scout, the lineup for the night includes pinkie normal, two touring folk musicians from New York, and local artists Cuyahoga Current doing a full band bluegrass set, false teeth doing an unplugged set, and Malachi doing a folk set. This event’s premier munchie provider is Garbage Kids Vegan food truck, serving delicious and inclusive food for hungry folks. Doors open at 7pm, music starts at 8pm.
