The Akron Urban League Scholar’s Academy, Akron Bicentennial and the City of Akron are sponsoring an official screening of the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary False Positive, about the life and career of Olympic gold medalist and former 400-meter world record holder, Akron native Butch Reynolds, at the Goodyear Theater.
The film looks at how Reynolds became a track & field athlete and what it took him to reach his career pinnacle: winning an individual Olympic silver medal and a relay gold medal in the 1988 Olympic games. It also detail his fight to clear his name of doping accusations.
After the film, Reynolds, the film’s director Isma’il Al-Amin and Akron mayor Shammas Malik will do a Q&A moderated by WAKR’s Ray Horner.
