Curator Mary Urbas Talks About Her Women’s Art Show at Lake Erie College

Thu 3/20 @ 12:30PM & 2PM

Since the Gallery at Lakeland Community College, where she was director, closed, curator Mary Urbas has taken her signature shows to other galleries around the region as an independent curator.

Her annual From Women show, From Women 18… by women, of women, about women, has been divided into three parts: one at the Understory Gallery at 78th Street Studios, one at BAYArts, and one at Lake Erie College in Painesville. They feature dozens of works by region artists in a range of media including painting, sculpture, collage, ceramics and textiles, among others.

A good time to stop at Lake Erie College’s BK Smith Gallery to see its segment of the show, featuring 18 artists, is this Thursday March 20 when Urbas will give two gallery talks, at 12:30pm and 2pm. They’re free and open to all. The Lake Erie College show is on view through April 3. Get more information here.
