Mary Urbas was director of the Gallery at Lakeland Community College where she organized many beloved, long-running, shows until the gallery was closed last year. She’s working on moving those shows to other locations. Currently her annual From Women… show — the 18th edition — is on view at Lake Erie College in Painesville and BAYarts Sally Otto Gallery; another piece of it has just closed at 78th Street Studios’ Understory Gallery.
This Sunday March 30 from 2-3pm, she’ll be doing a walk-through of the gallery where she’ll talk about how she puts a show together — choosing the work and organizing it for display — and offer more information about the 11 artists on view and their techniques.
Prior to that, from 1-2pm, she’ll join fellow juror Gina Washington in the Sullivan Family Gallery to talk about the annual juried art show there and offer insight on the jurying process and how artists can get better at submitting work for juried shows.
Both talks are free and open to all.
