Come to the Lakewood Resistance Fair & Connect with Ways to Support Your Cause

Sat 3/29 @ 11AM-2PM

On February 8, a group of local organizations planned an event at Cleveland Heights High School they called Resistance Fair, to provide people with information about efforts to stand up for democracy in the light of attacks on our country, our Constitution and the American people by Trumusk.

The organizers were expecting maybe a couple of hundred people; more than 1,500 surged through the doors on a blustery, wintery day, packing the cafeteria as they connected with groups ranging from the ACLU to Lake Erie Ink youth writing group, organizations working with foster kids to groups pushing for stronger gun safety laws and fully funding public schools. Whatever your passion, there was likely someone there offering information and opportunities to join their efforts.

Of course, immediately people were asking the key organizations, “Why don’t you do this on the west side too?” So they are! Come down to the Lakewood Fieldhouse on Hurd Avenue near Detroit and West 119th to connect with groups fighting for racial justice, reproductive rights, the environment, gun safety, LGBTQ+ rights, immigrant rights, protecting democracy and much more. Sign up to join a group working on your pet passion and stand up for REAL American values.

“Turn despair into determination,” they urge. “The Resistance Fair is a gathering of groups working every day to bring our values to life — protecting targeted communities, our environment, and our democracy. As we look toward the next four years of attacks on all we hold sacred and meaningful, now is the time to unify, organize, and act.”

No registration is required — just come and stand up for freedom and justice for all!
