Northeast Ohio has several well-known period music groups, but smaller ensembles keep popping up as well. For instance, there’s Trobár, founded in 2017 to specialize in medieval music.
Its next presentation is called “Mothers and Sisters of the Veil,” a follow-up to its spring 2023 program “Daughters of Light,” looking at the lives and music of medieval nuns, and how they expressed their familial ties with each other through their music and writing. The concerts will feature special guest artist, Greek cantor and expert in Byzantine chant Photini Downie Robinson, and returning guests Rosemary Heredos, Nadia Tarnawsky, Karin Weston, and Allen Otte.
They’ll perform the program at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights on Friday March 21, and at St. James Catholic Church in Lakewood on Saturday Friday 22. Get more information and tickets here.
