Yume Daiko Beginner’s Taiko Course
So much fun! Feel like banging on some drums?? They have a beginners course in traditional Japanese Taiko drumming starting soon, and they still have a few spots available.
No musical experience is necessary, just a desire to make some noise, have fun and learn about Taiko!
The course will take place on six Sundays in Berea, Ohio, and will begin with the very basics of taiko; stretching, holding sticks, stances, rhythms, etc. The course will include some discussion of taiko history and culture and by the end of the six weeks we will be able to play at least one basic taiko song along with more than a handful of rhythm phrases.
The course will be taught by Yume Daiko leader, Matthew Richards and other Yume Daiko members. The course does not require any music background or sheet music reading ability. Anyone 4th grade and above is welcome to take this course.
Students are not required to be super athletic but taiko is a light physical activity. You should dress appropriately and you may want to wear layers to keep from overheating or getting too cold. You may want to bring your own drink bottle with your favorite hydrating drink but we will have bottled water available.

Classes start regularly so there is time to apply and plan. Use the form, which includes more information: https://forms.gle/dGejwXRfpsCuaCsV8
