This Month is Black History Month, so the Western Reserve Historical Society’s recurring History on Tap program is partnering with the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame for its February programming.
Visitors will be able to see memorabilia from artists such as Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Sam Cooke, the Temptations, James Brown, the O’Jays, and more, and photos and artifacts from the Cleveland’s legendary R&B venue al Leo’s Casino and the Rhythm & Blues Legends collection. Additional music legends featured include B.B. King, The Temptations, Bobby Brown, and James Brown. This event will highlight Cleveland’s rich contributions to music history.
Attendees will also be able to meet the R&B Hall of Fame’s founder and CEO LaMont “Showboat” Robinson, learn more about the project, and have him sign his book Music and Entertainment Memories of Black Cleveland. DJ Phatty Banks will be playing tunes from various eras. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Get tickets here.
