Week 3 of CPT’s Test Flight Addresses Women’s and LGBTQ+ Issues

Thu 2/20-Sat 2/22 @ 7PM

Cleveland Public Theatre’s Test Flight program presents works in various stages of development, from readings to rudimentary stagings. Many of the works first performed here are later given full productions on the CPT stage,

For the third and final weekend of Part 1 of its 2025 Test Flight series (part 2 is coming in the spring), CPT is offering a double bill of Poems of an Angry Feminist and The Stars Made Me Gay: Queer Anthology Vol. 1. The former was conceived and produced by artist/poet Fatima Matar who escaped from Kuwait with her daughter and settled in the Cleveland area. The multimedia work includes music, dance, poetry and visuals to depict themes of misogyny, sexual harassment, domestic abuse and social justice, as well as her own experiences with motherhood, migration, depression and more.

The Stars Made me Gay, written by Lauren Lash is the first part of her Queer Anthology Project, featuring scenes and monologues derived from interviews with LGBTQ+ community members. It foregrounds bisexual, pansexual, lesbian and transmasculine voices as they talk about their experiences and their gender journeys.
