Polka music has been dubbed “the happiest sound around,” so it’s ideal for lovers. And once again, the National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame is hosting its annual Sweetheart Ball, where couples can bound around the floor showing off their polka flair before falling into each other’s arms for a romantic waltz.
Frank Moravcik and his orchestra and Linda Hochevar will be providing a mix of dance and pop tunes to keep the floor filled, while sandwiches, pastries and beverages will also be available for purchase at the American Croatian Lodge in Eastlake. They’re hinting at what sounds like some contests, saying “Hall of Fame hostess Sharon Staiduhar has surprises in store for lucky couples. You may even go home a winner!”
You can get advance tickets from the Polka Hall of Fame in Euclid (216-261-3263 or PolkaShop@aol.com) or get them at the door. It’s free for 18 and under, so bring the whole family. They’re all your sweethearts, aren’t they?
