See a Charlie Chaplin Silent Classic for Free in Rocky River

Sun 2/9 @ 7PM

In his last silent film, the 1928 romantic comedy The Circus, legendary movie actor Charlie Chaplin plays his classic persona, the little tramp, who, while fleeing police who suspect him of being a pickpocket, takes refuge in a circus in the middle of a performance, where becomes an immediate hit. There he falls in love with a lovely horseback rider who, alas, falls in love with a tightrope walker who has just joined the circus. The ending isn’t quite what you’d expect. Chaplin also wrote, directed and produced the film which shows off the full range of Chaplin’s expressive comedic talents.

The Cleveland Silent Film Festival & Colloquium and the West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church are presenting the film with an original organ score played live by David Blazer. The screening is free.
