Cleveland Burlesque kicked off its 21st season with its annual Valentine show, its Sweetheart Showcase. And it was a love affair indeed. The evening opened with a real wedding, when emcee Ken Schneck, with one of those mail order certificates, legally married Liv and Halley onstage.
What followed was Cleveland Burlesque in top form. In addition to eight local performers, it brought in red-headed glamour girl Edie Edison to open and close the show. In between, Cleveland Burlesque founder and Cleveland’s Burlesque Queen Bella Sin showed why she deserved the title with sparkling and elegant costumes and sinuous dance moves. Heather & Lace, Cleveland’s most humorous and creative burlesque performer, did a tap dance for one number and interpreted the Fifth Dimension’s “Up Up and Away” with an actual balloon. Monica Mod sang live as usual, treating the audience to a torchy version of “At Last.” Lady Slay sashayed around the stager in blue satin and a huge hat, while Lakota Shekar flirted with the audience, Natasha Norielle displayed maximum fabulousness to a medley of Donna Summer tunes, Lilith De La Louves transformed herself into a sassy mushroom, and Nyx La Vix did a breathtaking transition between drop-dead gorgeous costumes.
