Orchids Bring Color and Beauty to Cleveland Botanical Gardens

Fri 2/14-Sun 3/30

In the dreariest part of pre-spring winter, it’s always a much-needed relief to see the lush pastels and ornate shapes of orchids at the Cleveland Botanical Garden’s annual orchid show, running through Sunday March 30

This year’s theme, Love in Bloom, opens, appropriately, on Valentine’s Day, and will feature heart-shaped arrangements and backdrops highlighting the romantic elements of more than 100 species. More than 3,000 orchids will be found throughout CBG’s space in the main lobby, indoor gardens and glasshouses.

“Orchids have long been symbols of love, beauty, and devotion, captivating hearts and inspiring admiration across cultures and centuries,” say Amanda Hannah, CBG’s director of Botanical Garden Horticulture in a press release. “Caring for orchids demands patience, dedication, and nurturing touch—qualities that mirror the essence of love itself. Beyond their beauty, orchids have sparked creativity in art, poetry, and storytelling, serving as timeless muses for passion and connection.”

The run of the exhibit will also art shows by Akron’s Kimberly Lavery and Cleveland Height’s fiber artist Gunter Schwegler, as well as special programming, workshops, classes and events, and orchids, as well as equipment to care for them, will be for sale in CBD’s store. On Saturdays, the exhibit will be open until 8:30pm with cocktails available for purchase and live music provided by musicians from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
