More Ahead

You thought the worst was behind you?

Gut check. Time to hang tight to your values and what’s (and who’s) important to you. Our community continues to support efforts like Dress Up For Down Syndrome, Kent State fashion students teaming up with down syndrome models to raise money for charity; see our CoolCleveland VIDEO with three student leaders. Meanwhile, Les Délices doubles down, commissioning The Mythology Project, a series of new works, the latest of which features 34-year-old composer Viet Cuong, with a libretto by NEO poet Dave Lucas based on a Chinese myth about the mutability of truth.

EDWINS rebuilds Nighttown into a community space that could be even more impactful and important as its predecessor, now featuring local jazz musicians every weekend, to everyone’s delight.  WJCU is having a banner year, celebrating 55 years, creating a Hall of Fame, and being recognized as the best college station in the world. The Tri-C Jazz Fest is boldly commencing their exciting 46th edition.

The Capitol hosts the International Vegan Film Fest, CPT tests women’s and LGBTQ+ issues, local playwright Jeanne Madison is Showin’ Up Black, Kurentovanje stretches to a week, Brite Winter goes East, CYO hits 30, they’re shopping local with Cabin Fever Market, and we’re rescuing ferrets in Parma. As the saying goes: there’s no such thing as bad weather (or politics), only better choices.
