Fri 2/14 @ 4-6PM, 7PM
The Cleveland Museum of Art has just announced the re-activation of its now wholly owned Transformer Station facility in Ohio City’s Hingetown neighborhood.
Programming kicks off with the opening of an exhibition called Love is Resistance. It was put together by the Cleveland Institute of Art faculty and the staff of CIA’s Reinberger gallery, and features work by CIA students, faculty and alumni which responds to works in the Cleveland Museum of Art collection that address the idea of resistance from an art historical viewpoint. The show opens with a free community event from 4-6pm; no reservation is required.
Later that evening at 7pm, there will be musical performances by regional musicians revolving around the exhibit’s theme. Performers include Columbus’ Minority Threat, Cleveland/Los Angeles musician John Wiese, and Cleveland bands Kill the Hippies, Ritual Sin and Private Prisons. It’s free but reservations are required.
