Most people who have pets get cats and dogs, but those who like something a little more exotic might gravitate toward ferrets, which are adorable and cuddly and a lot of fun.
They’re also a handful and some people who get them don’t realize their care needs are different from cats and dogs, so they let them loose (horrific — these aren’t wild animals) or, better, turn them over to a rescue such as Avon-based Ferrets Unlimited (which also takes in ferrets found outside — again, not a wild animal.)
This weekend they’re holding a fundraiser they call the FURS Ferret Fest, taking place at Rookies Sports Bar and Grill, 6913 W. 130th in Parma Heights.
Your ticket gets you an all-you-can-eat buffet featuring both carnivore and vegetarian choices, all-you-can-drink select domestic draft beers, wine, well liquors, coffee, ice tea and fountain sodas, as well as the company of a bunch of animals lovers.
Get tickets until February 21 at ferretsunlimited.org or at the door.
