The next play presented by Cleveland’s Hispanic/Latino theater, the LatinUs Theater Company, is set in 1960s Argentina. Quiéreme hasta la locurav by Patricia Suarez depicts how a pair of women living in the countryside navigated the country’s and the era’s conservative culture.
“As they navigate the complexities of their personal and spiritual lives, they face societal expectations and their own internal struggles,” we’re told. “Through their music, they find a voice and a connection that transcends their circumstances, leading them to a deeper understanding of themselves and each other.” The play features boleros from the 50s and 60s sung live onstage.
LatinUs’s founder and executive artistic director Monica Torres directs the play, with a cast featuring Sandra Insaurralde, Sandra Corcuera, and Carlo Reynoso.
The play runs Friday and Saturdays @ 7:30pm and Sundays @ 2:30pm through March 2. It’s in Spanish with projected English super titles. Get tickets here.
